I like observing people. On Sundays, when I have a little bit of free time, I like to patrol the streets of downtown Manhattan. As always, New York City features something new: new cafes, new stores, and new people. For some reason, Manhattan is always full of girls: young and old, single and married. From my observations, the majority of female New Yorkers in Manhattan are either white or Asian. Thus, I decided to dedicate this post to this particular group of people: the women of New York.
My lovely girlfriend is Asian and my mother is white. I believe in the uniqueness of each individual. And I pay a lot of attention to the accomplishments of each person, regardless of his or her race. I don’t like generalizing people. However, in this post, I compared some observable patterns associated with white and Asian groups of females in New York.
White Girls vs Asian Girls
White girls wear shades
The absence of the sun doesn’t seem to deter white females from wearing sunglasses. The vast majority of them were wearing sunglasses in New York today. I do not believe that the reason lies in the sensitivity of white females’ eyes to the sun, as most white men were not wearing sunglasses today. I think their shades are associated with some kind of latest fashion or trend.
Asian girls wear regular glasses with black frames
A lot of Asian girls walking in Manhattan today were wearing regular glasses with black frames. Whether it was done for the purpose of looking smarter or for any other reason, facts are facts. Glasses are a distinct pattern associated with Asian girls in New York.
White girls like to dye their hair blonde
White girls tend to dye their hair blonde or blondish-white. In contrast to their dyed blonde hair, the white females tended to apply bronze or orange makeup to their skin, to make it look more tan. Hair that is dyed blonde, coupled with bronze or orange skin makeup, is a signature combination of a typical white lady.
Asian girls like to lighten their skin
In contrast to the white ladies in New York, the Asian ladies I observed preferred to apply makeup to make their facial skin appear lighter. Many kept their hair naturally dark.
White girls like to wear black leather jackets
I have no idea where the roots of this trend originated. It seemed that the white ladies in Manhattan liked to wear black leather jackets. This type of outfit seemed to be trending among white young to middle-aged females.
Asian girls wear headphones and stare at their smartphones
Asian girls like headphones and smartphones. There seemed to be an unlimited number of Asian girls listening to music and staring into their phones today in Manhattan. I have no idea what the reason behind this phenomenon is. It is just another pattern which caught my eye.
Cultural differences play a tremendous role in our life. Today I observed it once again. If every individual on this planet looked the same, life would be so damn boring. Let’s embrace our differences and notice only positive aspects of each other.
