I can imagine that every woman has, at least, one time messed up their makeup. Just like shaving, putting it on is something that can very easily be screwed up. Don’t worry, due to the fact that I am a male, I am going to let the professionals do the talking as they unveil some dangerous makeup mistakes.
FIRST MISTAKE: WRONG SHADE OF FOUNDATION
Ellis Faas, who is a famous makeup artist, notes how many women will use the wrong shade of foundation. The great thing, as Faas mentions, is that this is an incredibly easy fix. Faas explains how all women need to do is choose two shades that come the closest to matching their skin tone. One key, though, is to use personal judgment on how much you will need.
SECOND MISTAKE: APPLYING MAKEUP TO SKIN THAT IS DRY
There is no doubt that if Barbara Guillaume, a famous makeup artist who has worked on Kellan Lutz and Colin Farrell, gives advice about makeup you better listen. She explains how a huge no-no is applying it to dry skin. It will just sit on your skin and it will not blend in, she explains. She advises that women exfoliate at least once a week to avoid this issue.
THIRD MISTAKE: USING DIRTY BRUSHES
It seems like this mistake would be easily avoided, but, according to Rachel Wood, many women have this problem. Wood, who has worked on celebrities Lily Cole and Olivia Palermo, mentions how a huge mishap for a woman is when they apply makeup with a dirty brush.
FOURTH MISTAKE: TOO MUCH POWDER
A MAC makeup artist, John Stapleton, claims that applying too much powder can make women appear heavy. I can safely say that women don’t like looking heavy, and they should do everything in their power to avoid applying too much powder.
FIFTH MISTAKE: NOT SWITCHING MAKEUP SEASONALLY
As the season’s change, your makeup will also need to be changed. This is what Gita Bass, an artist that has worked for Katie Holmes, says that all women need to do. Bass notes how every woman should switch the formula that she is using in the spring and summer time to waterproof pencils. She also mentions in order to prevent it from melting away, women should use cream eye shadows in warmer weather.
SIXTH MISTAKE: TESTING MAKEUP IN THE WRONG AREAS
Rachel Wood has noted yet another mistake that women are making. Wood states how using the back of your hand to test a certain shade of makeup is not recommended. Rather, you should apply the shade to your jawline for the best results, says Wood.
SEVENTH MISTAKE: NOT TESTING MAKEUP
Wood is back again, and she explains that every woman needs to test their makeup. Think about it, when you go to the store to shop for clothing you want to try it on first. You don’t want to go home and realize that a certain piece of clothing doesn’t fit, right? Just looking at what it looks like in a bottle is not enough, Wood explains. Treat this like anything else, and test it before you use it.
EIGHT MISTAKE: TOO MUCH SHADE ON THE EYEBROWS
I think it is the time that we listen to Rachel Wood because she knows what she is talking about. Eyebrows can often be the trickiest part of the face to apply makeup to, and Wood gives some advice to prevent them from looking bad. She advises women to go a shade lighter with their brush and avoid using a brow pencil that is as dark as their eyebrows.
