The famous headline and motto “Just Do It” was created by the murderer Gary Gilmore. Gilmore was executed in 1977 for his crimes. The final words of the killer were “Let’s Do It.” Inspired by this courage, Dan Wieden and his advertising agency “Wieden + Kennedy” launched the “Just Do It” campaign in 1988 to boost the popularity of Nike.
